Damp Proofing

Rising Damp

Rising damp can be due to various factors - the failure of an existing damp proofing course (dpc), bridging due to the raising of external ground or internal floor levels, or in older buildings, the complete absence of a damp proof course.

Damp proofing is a protective process to ensure moisture cannot pass through the walls of a building to the interior. Damp proofing places a barrier in walls that prevents rising damp problems.

Our treatment consists of exposing the masonry or brick work by removing all salt impregnated plaster. We then injection Ultracure - through drilled injection holes, to put in place a new damp proof course followed by re-plastering to our Wykamol's specification with Brunopel IWP additive which is designed to minimise the passage of liquid water through the pore structure of cement renders, thereby preventing the transfer of salts to the surface. It is fully approved and accredited by the BBA as an effective barrier against rising damp.

Walls and floors in rooms below ground level are subject to lateral damp penetration by either hydrostatic pressure or capillary action. However, using Wykamol's systems, basements, cellars and vaults can be transformed into habitable accommodation. These products can be used on the external side of buildings below ground level where positive pressure exists, or on the internal (negative) side, without the need to build supporting walls.

All of our Damp Treatment is carried out according to Wykamol's specification and a guarantee can be provided for all Rising Damp treatment works if requested.
